Shorebird Sites of International Significance (SSIS)

The network of Shorebird Sites of International Significance (SSIS) identifies the key sites across Eurasia. The conservation status of those sites must be maintained and/or improved to ensure a 'safe-haven' for migratory or breeding shorebirds and other wildlife. The SSIS sites are selected by the traditional international criteria at flyway level to ensure compatibility with existing schemes [e.g. International Shorebird Survey (ISS) or Ramsar Convention, IBAs]. Each SSIS are introduced through infographics for easy follow-up.
