It's World Curlew Day

21 April marks the commemoration of the world's curlews. The World Curlew Day aims to highlight the conservation challenges of the fast vanishing curlew populations all over the world. The breeding populations of 6 of the world's 7 curlew and whimbrel species have been showing strong negative trends for quite some time. It is feared, that after losing the Eskimo and Slender-billed Curlews, more curlew species will be vanished for good if strict conservation actions are not implemented.
